The Pixel Buds Pro and Pro 2 from Google appear set for a desktop PWA improvement. For those on Chromebook last year, they had a useful web app for managing the Pixel Buds Pro via ChromeOS. However, the app had a limit; it was only for Chromebooks.
No doubt, that is now in the past. Now, the Pixel Buds web application is available for MacOS and Windows. That’s a win for potential new owners of Pixel Buds Pro and Pro 2; no Android phone needed. Before, it worked solely on ChromeOS 127 and higher. Now, it’s also good for MacOS 14 Sonoma and upward, and Windows 11 and upward.
So, if you don’t have a Chromebook and use a Mac or Windows, you can fully enjoy the new Pixel Buds desktop PWA. To use the entire Pixel Buds app, initiate pairing, and it’s a walk in the park. Once you’ve paired your Pixel Buds Pro or Pro 2 with your computer, visit the web app (mypixelbuds.google.com), and select your buds. With this and other PWAs in Chrome, you can install it for later. Once paired, you’ll see an easy-to-use interface. You can manage your Pixel Buds Pro in detail.
Notably, you can see the battery status for both the case and individual bud – crucial for knowing recharge times. If you have Pixel Buds Pro (1 or 2), you’ll get a range of settings to enhance your listening: Noise Control, Conversation Detection, Multipoint, Touch controls, and Equalizer to name a few. You can access more options in the “More Settings”. These options include Mono Audio, Volume EQ, Volume Balance, In-Ear Detection, Device Serial Numbers, and Firmware. This Mac and Windows expansion is Google’s big win for Pixel Buds Pro.
It eliminates a barrier for possible buyers wary of earbuds lacking proper desktop support. Now, anyone with a modern PC can enjoy Pixel Buds fully. Pixel Buds has improved since their debut.
Ongoing software updates and expanded platform support have enhanced both the 1st and 2nd generation of Google’s Pro earbuds. If you have been unsure about the Pixel Buds Pro 2, now is the time to try. With the new web app, they’re more flexible and accessible.
